First Meeting (Online or In-person)

Arrange a meeting and first lesson with Mike to study and discuss the tutoring process. 

Lesson Rates / Pricing

Mike offers a 4-6 lesson package that is discounted for your commitment to a multi-week schedule. Payment is made in advance.

The discounted starting rate is $35 per hour (speaking oriented study) if you book multiple lessons. Sessions typically average 90 minutes but can be longer. 

Academic English or essay writing, and travel outside Toronto may be subject to a higher hourly rate. Academic English lessons are $45 per hour as they involve more complex planning, marking and assessment.


Online tutoring takes place via Skype, Whatsapp or Google Meet. All you need is a computing device and Internet connection.
I may be able to offer in-person tutoring at  your location or meet me at the Toronto Reference library. It’s a beautiful, central and spacious spot for studying.

More About Mike Simpson


I’ve worked for 20 years as an English teacher in Toronto, teaching ESL in private schools, LINC programs and colleges (George Brown, Centennial, Sheridan).

I completed certificate programs in Teaching English (TESL) and E-Learning (U of T).

My major at university was urban geography – I love exploring the city.
